Senior Projects Officer

Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Research Operations,CUMC of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), the Senior Project Officer (Sr. PO) works closely with other staff members in the day-to-day SPA operations. The Sr. Project Officer is expected to deliver high-quality, customer-focused grants-management services, interacting with faculty and administrative staff to facilitate sponsored-project planning, program and administration, and to serve as the single point of contact for their assigned portfolio in this regard. The Sr. Project Officer is expected to adhere to sponsor and University guidelines and procedures. This position requires problem-solving skills in a deadline-driven environment as well as the consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Responsibilties
  • Coordinate pre-award review of grant and contract submissions, adhering to sponsor and University policies;
  • Advise principal investigators and departmental administrators about University policies and proposal preparation guidelines;
  • Act as the official institutional signatory on sponsored research proposal submissions, progress reports, prior approval requests, and other official actions;
  • Facilitate the processing for legal review and/or account setup of grant awards, contracts, subcontracts, and other award instruments;
  • Provide support and act as a central resource of knowledge for issues occurring throughout the lifecycle of a sponsored award;
  • Liaise with other University central and departmental units regarding sponsored project-related compliance, finance, or other administrative issues;
  • Maintain a current and up-to-date knowledge of existing and evolving institutional policies and sponsor regulations, with emphasis on the Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health;
  • Undertake other special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
